Charging Your Water with Minerals

The ancient Chinese were known for using elixirs of jade, cinnabar, and hematite for longevity. There are famous Vedic texts that date back as far as 3000 BC that talk about the use of minerals in healing practices. In ancient Greece and medieval Europe powdered gemstones were used to treat a range of ailments. Even today, we use salts, tinctures, and vitamin compounds sourced from the mineral kingdom to help us attain optimum health and wellbeing.

Water and minerals are two of the essential building blocks of our natural world, as well as important aspects of our bodies. Making a specific mineral charged water is a great way to get the healing effects and integrate the energy of a specific mineral or crystal into your body on a cellular and vibrational level. Both water molecules and minerals have a crystalline structure, and water is known to take on the mood of its environment, so it’s a perfect vehicle for carrying the vibrational energies of minerals.

When you make a healing mineral water the information contained in the minerals transfers to the water. This is not a way to remove impurities from the water, but rather add the energy and information found in minerals to be taken as a healing remedy. This works in much of the same ways as homeopathic or flower remedies do.

Making mineral infused waters are yet another way you can glean the benefits of these beautiful offerings from our earth. There are several ways to go about this. The safest way is to use a mineral slab because some minerals are toxic and should not be ingested directly, some should not be put into water because it harms them, and some have sadly been treated with chemicals, oils or dyes to bring out or preserve color. If you decide to make a mineral infused water with something other than a slab be sure to research the safety and sourcing of the stone. Slabs can be purchased in the Fields of Study online shop Spring / Summer 2020.

HOW TO USE

1) Make sure your slab has been cleaned and charged. The more you use it, the more you will want to clean it so it can work at its highest potential. You can clean it by placing it overnight in the light of the full moon, submerging it in pink Himalayan salt water, or by smudging it with the smoke from a piece of sage. And you can charge it by leaving it out in the light of the sun, or by putting it under a healing pyramid.

2) Before you use your slab check in with yourself and feel into what way this mineral can help you. Keep your wishes in mind so you recognize the support or healing in whatever form it may come to you. Be open, remembering that healing doesn’t always come in the form we think it will. This could be as simple as choosing one of the mineral’s aspects or strengths and asking it to help you in a particular area of your life or to be a supportive energy and tool for you and your body.

3) Fill up your glass pitcher, jar or glass with water. A glass vessel is preferred. And it’s best to use pure filtered water.

4) Place your slab in the sun, on a windowsill, table, or outside to charge for a few minutes.

5) Then move your slab to a cooler location without direct sunlight. Place your water filled vessel on top of the slab.

6) When your slab is all set up place your hands over or close to the vessel and with your intuition connect to how this mineral can support you. With your hands, use your energy and intent to direct this message to the mineral. Give thanks. Leave your vessel there to work for 20 to 60 minutes - even overnight for maximum benefits. You can also make a moon infused water, by charging your water in the light of the moon overnight.

7) You can drink this water throughout the day. Take it with you in a glass water bottle when you go to work, give it to pets or plants, put it into a spray bottle to use as a room spray or a hydrosol for your face or body… the applications are limitless. Use your creativity to find new ways this water can be healing for you.

8) Start off slowly, just taking a small does at first, and then move to sipping your water throughout the day. You can then drink small glasses in a sitting, and increase the amount as you see fit. Pay attention over time to it's healing effects as you continue to use you mineral charged water for healing in your life.

If you don’t have a slab, don’t worry. An alternative to a slab is making a crystal grid around your glass of water - or simple placing one piece next to the glass but touching the glass. I am not a fan of putting minerals directly IN to my water - for the reasons stated above (you never know what is on them), so these two methods are my go tos!
